REINO
BJÖRK

Swedish glass artist Reino Björk has over the years used Venetian colour techniques, such as murrine and incalmo, to create unique glass-pieces for galleries and private collectors. At the same time he has been working with other artists and architects on several commissions. For example, with Steven Holl Architects he blew lampshades for Kiasma Museum in Helsinki, with Joseph McDonnell he made a sculpture of gigantic blown Ice Cubes stacked on each others, and with Michael Davis he created some large flowerlike shapes for Macy's windows in New York. In Sweden he's done collaborations with KiWi for restaurant Operaterrassen and with Rolf Svartström for Swedish Television's Head Office in Stockholm.

Between 1987 and 2005 Reino worked and taught at Urban Glass in New York, and after a year in London he is now back in Sweden where he works at Konguro Glass Studio and at Konstfack University College of Arts,Crafts and Design in Stockholm. His work can be seen at The Glassery in Stockholm.
